Assistive Technology provides services and/or adaptive devices to help people compensate for a disability and/or develop skills that are essential for independent functioning at home, work, or school.

The Tennessee Association for Assistive Technology (TAAT) is the professional association of assistive technology providers in Tennessee. Membership is free and open to anyone wishing to learn more about the exciting field of Assistive Technology, including occupational therapists, physical therapists, speech and language pathologists, special and regular education teachers, as well as disabled individuals and/or their families.

What is TAAT?
TAAT is an association of professionals and individuals involved

  • in the provision of preservice and in-service education in assistive technology,
  • in the direct provision of assistive technology services and devices in Tennessee, and
  • in providing resources and leadership in assistive technology
  • in the active use of assistive technology in their daily lives.

The Tennessee Association for Assistive Technology was established as a non-profit group in March, 2005 with 88 charter members from across the state. The primary objective of the association is to provide a network of support up-to-date information for assistive technology providers and users.
