The Call for Session Proposals is Now Open

The Tennessee Association for Assistive Technology (TAAT) will consider proposals for one or two-hour educational sessions that address and/or demonstrate assistive technology strategies and devices for students with disabilities ages 3 - 21.

Proposal topics must align with one or more of the Strand Descriptions found HERE. In addition, we encourage proposals for sessions that focus on practical applications, implementation strategies and best practices. For example:

·       introduce software programs, mobile apps, adaptive devices, and strategies

·       offer innovative ideas and uses of assistive technology

·       provide how-to guides, tips and tricks

·       guide the audience through the implementation process

Sessions may be designed to offer:

  • Discussions/demonstrations of practical applications, implementation strategies and best practices

  • Introduction/review of policies and procedures for technology integrations

  • Descriptions of innovative uses of hardware, software, mobile apps or other adaptive devices

  • Tutorials for products, programs or apps (interactive learning sessions)

  • Classroom tips, tricks and guides for AT programs or device usage

  • Case studies involving the successful use of AT in the academic setting

  • Open forums (round-table discussions) for sharing of resources and ideas

Poster Sessions

TAAT will be offering Poster Sessions this year! We invite proposals that offer information and guidance on the same topics as typical sessions, but will allow visitors to study your information and discuss with you one on one.

Please note:  Our audience is comprised primarily of special education teachers, clinicians, and AT related service providers.  Proposals should address practical applications and strategies for use that can be easily understood and integrated into the classroom/curriculum.  We welcome proposals addressing instruction at all levels, from introductory to advanced, and strive to create a comprehensive program spanning the AT experience continuum.

Deadline for submission is September 16, 2019 at 4:00 pm EST.  Email notification of proposal status (acceptance or denial) will be sent by Sept. 24, 2019, along with a unique link for conference registration.

Two speakers per session will be granted FREE conference registration. Additional speakers for single sessions must register at full conference rate.
